Gurnumsbug & FmSea – Didn’t Know/Take Care.

“It’s always interesting when two like-minded producers collaborate: Pinch & Shackleton, Jacques Greene & Koreless, Hatcha & Benga, and of course Burial & Four Tet. Stand-alone, these are some of the best producers of the last decade, so when they get together, there’s really nowhere to go but up. Now, I may not be in the same league (or even the same game) as these artists, but the prospect of collaborating with my friend and fellow deep Dubstep/Garage head Gurnumsbug (Fresno, California) got me really excited, for those same reasons. His airy, minimal beats stand up strong on their own and his style is well defined, but I’ve always wondered my lo-fi tenancies and background in songwriting could add (or subtract) to his sound. The result, as I now know, is something special to both of us; a step out of our respective comfort zones and into the other’s.

Held up by powerful sub-bass lines, Didn’t Know/Take Care takes Gurnumsbug’s downcast euphoria and pairs it with my carefully crafted ambiance and recent (but, until now, undocumented) genre explorations to create something that both of us can call our own, despite it’s collaborative nature. We’re both very proud of this EP and we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it, so stream it on Soundcloud and download it for free via Bandcamp if you are so inclined.
